New York environmentalists are celebrating the state’s decision to ban drilling for shale gas, which has left energy executives reeling. The man behind the move – Governor Andrew Cuomo – got a round of applause from grateful activists outside his office. New York has banned fracking after a report on the associated health risks, and is the second US state to do so after Vermont. Marina Portnaya has the details.
